Sugar is everywhere: in our bodies, in our society, and in the socio-political and economic relationships and landscapes surrounding us. Sugar also takes center stage in this exhibition.
The artists’ new works explore the production process, sugar’s many forms, and how it is intertwined with the allure and friction of our daily lives. The artists—including several chefs who incorporate sugar into their creations—present tastings, table settings, storage methods, installations, laboratory setups, performances, and readings. Folk customs and rituals surrounding sugar and the sugar beet are also addressed, ranging from St. Martin’s Day to 12th-century Chinese folklore and the so-called ‘superfrost’ method.

A variety of activities, workshops, and performances will take place during the opening, the finissage (15/11), and the exhibition period, alongside debates with relevant guests/actors within the topic of sugar.
