Change doesn’t happen without tension. Activists and changemakers know: no friction, no shine. But within many social movements, internal conflict is often avoided, suppressed, or simply too overwhelming to face.
In this one-day workshop, we look at how you can make the minority voice heard and give resistance a place within the organization. We demonstrate that conflict, friction, and resistance are part of coming together, and how conflict—when embraced—can strengthen collective purpose.
By the end of the workshop, you will:
* Be able to reflect on and interpret your own experiences—leading to deeper recognition and shared understanding
* Have practical tools to uncover the underlying needs beneath conflict.

We’ll kick things off with a walk through the city, planting hazelnuts, walnuts, sweet chestnuts, and cuttings along the way. A quiet revolution with the motto: “As many nuts in the ground as in your mouth!” A joyful and fruitful action to green and nourish the city.
Afterwards, we’ll head into the kitchen together. Ilse and Leonie have already gathered a beautiful harvest of wild-foraged ingredients, and we’ll add some local produce to the mix. Together, we’ll cook a celebratory meal and end the day with a cozy dinner full of flavor, stories, and connection.

On Friday December 12th, the artists Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson will give two guided talks, on their socio-politically engaged art practice and their exhibition The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons & three other community-scale art projects. They´ll discuss their still ongoing polyphonic works that the show brings together, which the artists have worked on in collaboration with other artist´s collectives, activists and active citizens in Iceland, Spain and the Netherlands. see also blog.

Meet Lulu Goffini: a neurotic genius of a cockatoo, born in captivity and bored out of his brilliant little skull. Enter Rickie—artist, performer, trans elder of Groningen, and devoted companion to the feathered and furred—who took Lu in and tried to keep him entertained. Turns out, Lu lives for the spotlight.
In this wildly feathered performance, Rickie shares the chaos, comedy, and questionable ethics of living with a bird who insists on doing tricks. She’s firmly against animals performing—but try telling Lu that. Rickie will tell you not to get a parrot or cockatoo, Lu will show off some tricks, and the audience will get time to ask questions.

Alternative Archives & Subjective Atlas of Groningen
Are you curious about subcultures from Groningen’s past? You are invited to come and peek into different alternative archives of Groningen!
There will be: Provo zines called ‘Scandal’ from the 1960s, Political posters from different movements,Zines from the 80s and 90s, Loads of pictures of graffiti, made by punks, hiphopheads and Z-side hooligans. All of these from Groningen! Visitors are invited to browse, dig, and discover stories tucked away in these unconventional collections. Experience the joy of rummaging through these old zines, pictures, and posters. There will be a copy machine, so you can make collages of your favourite fragments!
Alongside the alternative archives, we also present an alternative atlas, the Subjective Atlas of Groningen, a project still in the making. In this atlas, the province of Groningen is shown by its inhabitants, the narrative about the place told by diverse groups of people. Come and explore the early versions of this evolving atlas!

Workshop door Stroomversnellers voor mensen van verschillende collectieven.
“Zonder wrijving, geen glans: omgaan met conflicten binnen collectieven.”

Verandering vindt niet plaats zonder spanning. Activisten en changemakers weten: zonder wrijving, geen glans. Maar binnen veel sociale bewegingen wordt intern conflict vaak vermeden, onderdrukt of simpelweg te overweldigend om onder ogen te zien. In deze eendaagse workshop bekijken we hoe je de stem van de minderheid kunt laten horen en weerstand een plek kunt geven binnen de organisatie.
We laten zien dat conflict, wrijving en weerstand onderdeel zijn van samenkomen, en hoe conflict – wanneer omarmd – het collectieve doel kan versterken.
Aan het einde van de workshop zal je:
* In staat zijn om te reflecteren op je eigen ervaringen en deze te interpreteren – wat leidt tot diepere herkenning en gedeeld begrip.
* Praktische tools hebben om de onderliggende behoeften achter conflicten te ontdekken.
* Je vermogen om te luisteren, samen te vatten en zinvolle vervolgvragen te stellen versterken.
* Inzicht krijgen in hoe weerstand zich manifesteert binnen groepen.
* Je persoonlijke stressreacties begrijpen – en leren hoe je er constructief mee om kunt gaan.

De Eetbare Stad: Proef de Toekomst.
Met Leonie Bais (microbioom-educator, werkt met fermentatie, plantaardige, lokale en wildgeplukte voeding, initiatiefnemer bij FoodLab en onderdeel van Ons Eten)
en Ilse Donker (kunstenaar, wildplukker, organisator van voorouderlijke vaardigheden, onderdeel van het Wild Biome Project).
Meld je aan voor dit evenement “De Eetbare Stad” via info@alternativegroningen.nl of signnl@gmail.com.
De stad zou zoveel eetbaarder kunnen zijn – en samen gaan we dat waarmaken! Doe mee met onze interventie en deel je ideeën voor guerrillatuinieren, je kennis over wildplukken en lokale lekkernijen! We beginnen met een wandeling door de stad, waarbij we onderweg hazelnoten, walnoten, tamme kastanjes en stekjes planten. Een stille revolutie met als motto: “Evenveel noten in de grond als in je mond!” Een vrolijke en vruchtbare actie om de stad te vergroenen en te voeden.
Daarna duiken we samen de keuken in. Ilse en Leonie hebben al een prachtige oogst aan wild geplukte ingrediënten verzameld, en we voegen er wat lokale producten aan toe. Samen koken we een feestelijke maaltijd en sluiten de dag af met een gezellig diner vol smaak, verhalen en verbondenheid. Zie ook blog

Op vrijdag 12 december geven de kunstenaars Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson twee guided talks over hun sociaal-politiek geëngageerde kunstpraktijk en hun tentoonstelling The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons & three other community-scale art projects. Ze bespreken hun nog steeds lopende polyfone werken die de tentoonstelling samenbrengt, waaraan de kunstenaars hebben gewerkt in samenwerking met andere kunstenaarscollectieven, activisten en actieve burgers in IJsland, Spanje en Nederland. zie ook blog

Marina Sulima @_marinasulima & Dajana Heremic @dajanaheremic – die verbonden zijn in hun biocentrische praktijk van oude ambachten als poorten naar bewoonbare toekomsten – geven een Skillshare. Door lokaal geoogste klei, plantenvezels en wol gaan we een vat voor fermentatie met zout creëren. We verkennen de samenwerking met mensen en andere dieren, planten en bacteriën. Inloop 13.30. Marina is maker van dingen, aspirant-boerin, af en toe geobsedeerd door felblauwe fungiciden of asglazuren voor keramiek. Dajana is beeldend kunstenaar en leraar, animistische heggenmus en organisator van voorouderlijke skillsshares.

Performance van Rickie and the Bird Brains.
Maak kennis met Lulu Goffini: een neurotisch genie van een kaketoe, geboren in gevangenschap en verveeld door zijn briljante kleine schedel. Rickie – kunstenaar, performer, transgender ouderling van Groningen en toegewijde metgezel van de gevederde en harige – nam Lu in huis en probeerde hem te vermaken. Het blijkt dat Lu leeft voor de schijnwerpers.
In deze wild gevederde performance deelt Rickie de chaos, komedie en twijfelachtige ethiek van het leven met een vogel die erop staat trucjes te doen. Ze is fel tegen dieren die optreden, maar probeer Lu dat maar eens wijs te maken. Rickie zal je vertellen dat je geen papegaai of kaketoe moet nemen, Lu laat een paar trucjes zien en het publiek krijgt de tijd om vragen te stellen.

Alternatieve Archieven & Subjectieve Atlas van Groningen
Ben je nieuwsgierig naar subculturen uit het verleden van Groningen? Kom dan een kijkje nemen in verschillende alternatieve archieven van Groningen! Er zijn onder andere: Provo-zines genaamd ‘Scandal’ uit de jaren 60, politieke posters van verschillende bewegingen, zines uit de jaren 80 en 90, en talloze foto’s van graffiti, gemaakt door punks, hiphopheads en Z-side hooligans. Allemaal uit Groningen! Bezoekers worden uitgenodigd om te snuffelen, te zoeken en verhalen te ontdekken die verborgen liggen in deze onconventionele collecties. Beleef het plezier van het doorzoeken van deze oude zines, foto’s en posters. Er is een kopieermachine aanwezig, zodat je collages kunt maken van je favoriete fragmenten!
Naast de alternatieve archieven presenteren we ook een alternatieve atlas, de Subjectieve Atlas van Groningen, een project dat nog in ontwikkeling is. In deze atlas wordt de provincie Groningen getoond door de ogen van haar inwoners; het verhaal over de plek wordt verteld door diverse groepen mensen. Kom en ontdek de vroege versies van deze steeds evoluerende atlas! 12:00 – 17:00: Open archief.

20 december is de laatste dag van de tentoonstelling Het Recht op Groningen – Circuit of Commons & Drie andere projecten op gemeenschapsniveau.
