Maak je je zorgen over het gebrek aan vrije ruimte in de stad om samen te komen, om je te organiseren en samen dingen te creëren? Heb je behoefte aan meer vrije ruimte voor rijkdom die niet in geld wordt uitgedrukt? Wil je dat de natuur een sterke stem en plek krijgt in de stad? Wil je het bestaan van sociale, culturele en milieu- initiatieven in het centrum en in de wijken ondersteunen?

Kom en doe mee met het vieren, manifesteren en verdedigen van ‘Het Recht op Groningen’ dat staat voor het recht op diversiteit, het recht op huisvesting en het recht op openbare en gemeenschappelijke ruimtes, voor essentiële gemeenschaps- en zelfgeorganiseerde sociale, culturele, artistieke en ecologische initiatieven in Groningen. Spreek je steun uit voor de Commons in Groningen!

“Het Recht op Groningen” is een oproep aan een diverse, open groep gemeenschappen, individuen en zelfgeorganiseerde initiatieven om zich te verenigen in een groeiend ondersteuningsnetwerk, een Circuit of Commons voor het Recht op de Stad. Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson zijn al jaren gepassioneerd bezig met het ondersteunen van sociale en politieke processen en initiëren van nieuwe coalities. Eerder werkten ze met de burgerbeweging voor de nieuwe Grondwet in IJsland en met ‘La Casa Invisible’ in Málaga. Recent initieerden zij ‘Het Recht op Eindhoven-Circuit of Commons’ samen met diverse initiatieven in Eindhoven, ondersteund door het Van Abbemuseum, en nu dus in Groningen!

Projectspace SIGN zal van 25 oktober t/m 20 december recente kunst projecten van Libia & Ólafur tentoonstellen en fungeren als hoofdkwartier en verzamelpunt voor de Groningse Circuit of Commons, waar een groot aantal commons een bijdrage zullen leveren aan het open programma. Kom langs, neem deel, uit je stem. Laten we SIGN gebruiken als common! De feestelijke opening van de tentoonstelling en deze periode is op 25/10 om 17.00 uur. Wees van harte welkom!

Sluit je aan voor de eerste interventie van het project dat deelneemt aan de Groninger Onderstroom-demonstratie op 27 september 2025. De Groningse Onderstroom is een bonte verzameling organisaties en gemeenschappen die opkomt voor het belang van vrije ruimte en laagdrempelige cultuur in de stad Groningen. We zullen opkomen voor Het Recht op Groningen – Circuit of Commons met een monumentaal textiel kunstwerk van Libia & Ólafur gemaakt i.s.m. de sociale naaiateliers Draadkracht, Vanhulley en Awesome.

Are you concerned about the lack of open spaces in the city to gather, organize, and create together? Do you believe there should be open spaces for the richness of non-monetized practices and other types of circular economies? Do you want nature to have a strong voice and place in the city? Do you want to support the existence of social, cultural, and environmental initiatives in the city center and neighborhoods?

Join us in celebrating, demonstrating, and defending ‘The Right to Groningen,’ which represents the right to diversity, the right to housing, and the right to public and communal spaces, for essential community-based and self-organized social, cultural, artistic, and ecological initiatives in Groningen. Express your support for the Commons in Groningen.

“The Right to Groningen” is a call to a diverse, open group of communities, individuals, and self-organized initiatives to join each other in a growing support network, a Circuit of Commons for The Right to the City. Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson are known for their passionate, critical and inventive works engaging in sociopolitical processes and initiating new coalitions with communities, activists and civil groups. Earlier they worked with the civil movement for the new and silenced Constitution in Iceland and with “La Casa Invisible” in Málaga, more recently with “The Right to Eindhoven- Circuit of Commons”, supported by Van Abbe Museum and now, in Groningen!

All of this takes place in the project space SIGN, which wholeheartedly supports it. A large number of commons are contributing to the open program from October 25th to December 20th at SIGN. Come by, participate, voice your opinion, and contribute! The festive start of the exhibition with recent works from Libia & Ólafur and this project is on 25/10 at 5 pm!

Join us for the first intervention of the project participating in the Groningse Onderstroom demonstration on September 27, 2025. The Groningse Onderstroom is a diverse collection of organizations and communities that advocate for the importance of open space and accessible culture in the city of Groningen. We will be campaigning for The Right to Groningen, with a monumental textile artwork from Libia & Ólafur, made in collaboration with the social sewing workshops Draadkracht, Vanhulley en Awesome.
