Decolonial Dialogues, a collaboration between Sign– Platform for young art, and the Research group Image in Context of Minerva, Groningen, explores the obstacles, challenges, possibilities for artists in their ambition to decolonize all kinds of practices they cultivate or are confronted with.
In the Seventh Decolonial Dialogue:
Setareh Nafisi, trained as a concert pianist and composer, working as a professional doctorate researcher and lecturer at the Prince Claus Conservatory, explores the integration of experimental and traditional compositional techniques within the sonic world of electro-acoustic music. Through her research she aims to create new mourning rituals as spaces for healing and transformation.
 Her narrative based, often site specific compositions are informed by different 
psychological, sociological and cultural perspectives, addressing grief and trauma through sound, space and the shared physical presence of performers and audiences. She believes that in times of crisis, collective dreaming not only becomes an act of hope, but a vital tool for survival.

Decolonial Dialogues, een samenwerking tussen Sign – Platform voor jonge kunst en de onderzoeksgroep Image in Context van Minerva, Groningen, onderzoekt de obstakels, uitdagingen en mogelijkheden voor kunstenaars in hun ambitie om allerlei praktijken die ze cultiveren of waarmee ze geconfronteerd worden, te dekoloniseren.
In de Zevende Decolonial Dialogue:
Setareh Nafisi, opgeleid als concertpianist en componist en werkzaam als professioneel doctoraatsonderzoeker en docent aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium, onderzoekt de integratie van experimentele en traditionele compositietechnieken binnen de sonische wereld van elektroakoestische muziek. Door middel van haar onderzoek streeft ze ernaar nieuwe rouwrituelen te creëren als ruimtes voor genezing en transformatie. Haar narratieve, vaak locatiegebonden composities worden geïnspireerd door verschillende psychologische, sociologische en culturele perspectieven, waarbij rouw en trauma worden aangepakt door middel van geluid, ruimte en de gedeelde fysieke aanwezigheid van artiesten en publiek. Ze gelooft dat collectief dromen in tijden van crisis niet alleen een daad van hoop wordt, maar ook een essentieel instrument om te overleven.
