The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons & three other community-scale art projects.

Two artists talks by Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson

On Friday December 12th, the artists Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson will give two guided talks, on their socio-politically engaged art practice and their exhibition The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons & three other community-scale art projects. They´ll discuss their still ongoing polyphonic works that the show brings together, which the artists have worked on in collaboration with other artist´s collectives, activists and active citizens in Iceland, Spain and the Netherlands.

The exhibition brings together works from the projects In Search of Magic – A Proposal for A New Constitution for The Republic of Iceland (2017 – ongoing) in collaboration with The Magic Team, a broad DIT collective initiated by the artists together with activists, environmentalists, performers, composers and different cilvil groups for the implementation of the New and silenced Constitutional Draft in Iceland. The Rehabilitation of La Casa Invisible – Chapter 1 (2021 – ongoing), a project together with the community of La Casa Invisible in Málaga, south of Spain and curator and researcher Gemma Medina Estupiñan. The Right to Eindhoven – Circuit of Commons (2024-ongoing) initiated during their work and exhibition at Van Abbemuseum, with Gemma Medina and a diverse coalition of social, cultural and environmental initiatives, and the currently in process The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons (2025-ongoing), that the artists are working on in collaboration with SIGN project-space & Fiona van den Bergh organizer, performer, historian and city guide and the Groningse Onderstroom,.

The artists will be present from of 12:00. Coffee, tea & cake are provided.

Twee Artists Talks door Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson,

Op vrijdag 12 december geven de kunstenaars Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson twee guided talks over hun sociaal-politiek geëngageerde kunstpraktijk en hun tentoonstelling The Right to Groningen – Circuit of Commons & three other community-scale art projects. Ze bespreken hun nog steeds lopende polyfone werken die de tentoonstelling samenbrengt, en waaraan de kunstenaars hebben gewerkt in samenwerking met andere kunstenaarscollectieven, activisten en actieve burgers in IJsland, Spanje en Nederland.

De kunstenaars zullen aanwezig zijn vanaf 12:00 uur. Koffie, thee en cake worden verzorgd.
