HYPERTROVE §§ – zaterdag 18 januari 2025
HYPERTROVE §§
January 18
16.00 – 22.00 h
HYPERTROVE §§ looks into each other’s desires, complexities, values, ethics and existential thoughts. How can we remain individuals and not lose our liquified identities within a shared, collective and communal space? While searching for a place to be a part of, we still want to be ourselves.
Hyperreal, hyperpop, hypermeta, hyperdata. The cyber-world collects our souls and urges us to keep up. Social and self-transformation are part of everyday conversations. It is all too much and sometimes we also want to dance!
HYPERTROVE §§ is a stage for addressing personal and social environments, where we question reality, the fictional, the meta, ourselves, and each other. It is a daring place for us and the public to take part in a collective experience, connect with a hyper timeline, and go on a treasure trove with the hopes of finding answers.
With music & performances by Sergi Casero, Elif Satanaya Özbay, Magdalena Petrova, Giek from Reality Cult, Ksenia Perek and Eigen Risico. Tattoos by Speedy Tattoo. Video message: Alaa Shehada. Curated by Enrica Arbia and Radina Kordova.
(nederlands)
Hyperreal, hyperpop, hypermeta, hyperdata.

about participants
Sergi Casero:
Sergi Casero Nieto is a Catalan theater-maker, performer, and designer based in Amsterdam. His work examines the political power of storytelling, shedding light on the subtle yet pervasive violence of hegemonic narratives in everyday life. Through his research, he explores oral history and collective memory, blending personal experiences with elements of fiction and literature. Drawing from a wide range of sources, Casero Nieto challenges preconceptions and highlights the complexity of inherited accounts.
Elif Satanaya Özbay:
Elif Satanaya Özbay, born in the Netherlands with a Turkish-Circassian background, is an artist whose performance and research work revolves around diasporic nostalgia within the framework of horror. Referring to Circassian myths, contemporary entertainment and Turkish folklore, she initiates pieces that start from an autobiographical point and further fictionalize through mind mapping and linking methods. https://www.instagram.com/yabzofile/
Magdalena Petrova:
Magdalena Petrova (1995, Bulgaria), is a multimedia-performance artist, and cultural worker based in Rotterdam since 2016. Her creative journey has been deeply influenced by the interplay between her animistic Bulgarian heritage and the complexities of her upbringing amidst the transformative shadows of post-Soviet reality. Magdalenas’ work manifests, whatever its form, as rituals, and experiences; inviting audiences to explore paths of transcending above fear and celebrating transformation and perseverance. Through her practice and research, she aims to create places for individuals to reflect on past dreams, hopes & ideas while nurturing a sense of acceptance and love for the past-present-future selves. Petrova delves into ritual studies, ethnobotany, magical thinking, world-building, subculture, and post-Soviet youth studies by integrating elements of Bulgarian traditional witchcraft and folklore.
Giek from Reality Cult:
Giek from Reality Cult is a star traveler and mystic visionary who channels the hidden wisdom of the Akashic Records and ancient karmic cycles into transformative, multidimensional creations. Her work bridges lifetimes, blending experimental theater, music, and sacred storytelling to awaken esoteric truths and illuminate paths of liberation and transformation. Her handcrafted, zero-waste costumes—designed with inspiration from past lives—and immersive decor, which she uses to manifest her own reality, transport audiences into alternate realms where the boundaries of time and space dissolve. With her work, Giek often steps into forgotten, sacred spaces—much like the echoes of a hidden church—where stained glass and towering arches whisper secrets of the universe. Here, she breathes life into stories of cosmic alignment, challenging and inspiring her audience to transcend the mundane and embrace their divine essence.
Ksenia Perek:
Ksenia Perek (b. 1993, Poland) is a performance and video artist based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She holds a degree from the Fine Arts department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (2018) and has studied at the Performative Art department of the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna. Since 2019, Perek is represented by the contemporary art gallery ADA in Rome. “Current art landscape is palliative, like a migraine that lacks any coherent logic and thus fuels our anxiety. Artists are the unappreciated working class. We carry all the necessary modes of production, yet we are the bottom of the industry’s food chain. We want to work, but there is not enough work for everyone. Inequity by definition leading to a cultural decimation of content. It is time for us to become Punks.” – artist writing, 2024
Eigen Risico:
Eigen Risico is the project from the multidisciplinary artist Hector Garcia Martin (Groningen) which started in the beginning of 2019. Initially formed as a collective where live art performance and music melted into an intense live show, Hector now decided to go solo and fully express himself. Raw vocals, electronic-punk beats, and sentimental songs are the signature of Eigen Risico, unexpected beat switch, and overall high-energy performance.
